This fantastic picnic wedding was shot by practical sponsor
Keira Lemonis. I love featuring picnic weddings because, well, I love picnics. They are fun, laid back, and affordable to throw. (And did I mention, fun?) So mixing picnics with the overblown world o' weddings seems like the perfect antidote. How can you talk your wedding super seriously if you have a "head picnic blanket" instead of a head table? My favorite parts of Patty & Trent's wedding are that they had a pot-luck dessert buffet, let people bring their dogs, and had had dog treats at the dessert buffet! Awwww....

In the end, the pictures from weddings I love best are always these - the un-posed, un-rehearsed, un-planned moments, filled with joy and emotion.

There were picnic baskets filled with fresh fruit on every picnic table, a clothes line with pictures, bocce and horseshoes, hay bails, a lemonade stand, a wishing well.

And dancing! You can have a picnic wedding and still have plenty of dancing.

There was a playground right next to the wedding "venue" (achem, a park, yay) with a playground. Fun for the kids! Fun for the bride and groom! Just fun!

And... if you didn't already love this wedding because of the puppies and the swing set and the pot-luck... you should love it because the groom made his own boutonnière. Hurrah for gender fearless grooms!

how beautiful. I bet everyone there had a ton of fun.
Meg- this post couldn't have come at a better time. I'm from upstate NY and have been scouring the net for an affordable photog that I actually like. So I get my cup of coffee and see what eye candy you have for me today, and bam! A decent photog thats actually in my price range :) I must be doing good things for my karma.
He made it?! Talented!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for featuring our wedding! It was amazing! And we couldn't be MORE THRILLED with our OUTSTANDING photographer Keira Lemonis. Yes, we had a pot-luck of an assortment of pies (picnic style) and other desserts - with little chalk boards so people could write, "Made with Love By..." One thing that wasn't mentioned was that in lieu of a wedding cake, we had an old-school ice cream truck. We paid him a flat rate of $2.00pp and not everbody went up...it only cost us about $200! EVERYBODY loved it...especially the kids! Trent and I met him at the gate and rode in waving out the window while the ice cream music played. ALSO, for those interested, Trent DID make his boutineer out of ribbon - I had the template from a magazine and as you can see - not only was it amazing but an awesome keepsake! Cheers and happy planning!
It was a beautiful wedding and everyone had a blast. The photos look great.
pattycake- You and your now husband looked gorgeous! Where did you get your dress?
Thanks Vanessa - I pride myself on finding exactly what I want on a budget. Here is the link to my dress - Alvina Valenta BRIDESMAID dress ordered in ivory. $300 + cost of alterations...you can't beat that!

it looks like such a fun wedding!
just when i start stressing about something stupid like how to drape fabric from tent poles, you hit with another down-to-earth gem. THIS is why i read this blog every single day! fabulous!
I love the whole look you wore, pattycake - where did you get your necklace and earrings? They're absolute perfection! My dress is similarly bare on the top (strapless sweetheart neckline, woohoo) and I'm looking for something similar.
This is exactly what I aspire to for my wedding. I even now have visions of a seersucker suit for my boyfriend. Also, an ice cream truck sounds fabulous. Brilliant!
wow her necklace is so pretty!
What about winter weddings? Do you have any pictures or stories of practical winter weddings?
Hey Anon-
Maybe in the winter? I haven't blogged through the winter, so I don't have any reader winter weddings. I share them as I get them!
Thanks for the necklace compliment...
The earrings AND necklace are from India...the best part is I scored them on ebay for $30 (including shipping)! It is an Indian Jewelry Ebay store...I'll have to see if I can find them BUT all of their items and prices are FABULOUS!...something Blue!
Thanks, Meg. I'm always on the lookout for winter wedding stuff and haven't had much luck finding details. There's a lot of good stuff on this site that helps keep me happy though. I know it's mostly to help you deal with planning your own wedding (we all need support in that area) but I figured I would ask.
Regardless, I'm getting married in January and I'll send you some stuff post wedding, in case anyone else out there is looking for any winter wedding ideas.
Where was your location? It is stunning!
I love the idea of a wishing well!
